In Cambodia, we help to reduce perinatal mortality through new equipment for children's hospital

Caritas Czech Republic supplied the recently opened perinatal unit of the National Pediatric Hospital in Cambodia with modern equipment. It will increase the capacity to provide high quality care for mothers and their new born children, which will lead to further decrease in perinatal mortality.

Richard is a two-year-old boy who, thanks to Caritas Czech Republic and the World Food Programme in Zambia, participated in the important Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MYCIN) and Growth, Monitoring and Promotion (GMP) programme that benefits his entire community and help him recover from Malnutrition.

Meet Sophie Kabamba Mukeny (45 married and mother of 7 children) and Elizabeth Kapinga (32, single), Congolese refugees living in Mayukwayukwa refugee settlement. They are part of the group of 20 women who were trained in 2021 by Caritas Czech Republic in making environmentally friendly green charcoal.

How we help Afghan refugees in Turkey thanks to the Caritas for Afghanistan fundraising appeal

30 August marks the one-year anniversary of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, after which the Taliban shortly retook power in the country. This has exacerbated the already poor security situation in the country and significantly deepened the humanitarian crisis. Large numbers of Afghans have been left with no option but to flee the country. We are helping those who have fled Afghanistan to Turkey to provide the basic necessities so that they can stand on their own feet in their new country.

I am proud to work with Caritas, says Muyunda Masiye, a lead farmer in Mayukwayukwa refugee settleme

Muyunda Masiye originally comes from Mongu but got to Mayukwayukwa after taking up the farm in the area after his father. Muyunda, a 52-year-old Zambian, lives in the area with his wife and 7 children. He was supported by Caritas in the past and now is one of the lead farmers in the settlement.
