Caritas Czech Republic Showcases Innovation at the 98th Zambia Agricultural Show

A space for connection, learning and inspiration — the Caritas Czech Republic stand welcomed visitors from all walks of life, sparking conversations around innovation, agriculture and the work transforming communities across Zambia. Over six days, farmers, students, development partners and families gathered to exchange ideas, discover new approaches and learn more about initiatives promoting sustainable livelihoods, resilience and opportunities for communities across the country.

The 98th Zambia Agricultural & Commercial Show, held under the theme "Fostering Trade and Investment," provided the perfect platform for Caritas Czech Republic to showcase how partnerships, innovation and community-driven solutions are helping build resilient livelihoods and create opportunities for sustainable development.

Visitors were welcomed into an interactive exhibition that brought the organisation's work to life. Through engaging conversations, visual displays, and informational materials, they discovered how Caritas Czech Republic works alongside communities to improve food security, strengthen climate resilience, expand educational opportunities, support refugee inclusion, and empower people to build sustainable livelihoods.

One area that generated particular interest was the ZAMAGRO Project, a Czech–Zambian initiative that demonstrates how innovation can help unlock the potential of Zambia's agricultural sector. The project introduces modern agricultural technologies and promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise between Czech and Zambian partners. By supporting commercial farming growth and showcasing practical farming innovations, ZAMAGRO contributes to improving agricultural productivity while creating opportunities for stronger trade, investment and cooperation.

Beyond the displays and exhibitions, what truly stood out were the conversations. Visitors wanted to understand how innovative farming practices can improve harvests, how communities are adapting to climate change and how development organisations work hand in hand with local people to create lasting change. Every discussion reflected a shared desire to see stronger, more resilient communities across Zambia.

The exhibition also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with existing partners while forging new connections. Caritas Czech Republic was honoured to welcome Jiří Kyrian, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Zambia, together with members of the Embassy team. Their visit highlighted the enduring partnership between the Czech Republic and Zambia and the shared commitment to supporting sustainable development through collaboration and innovation.

While the exhibition showcased projects and technologies, its greatest achievement was bringing people together. It created a space where ideas were exchanged, questions were answered, and new perspectives were gained. For many visitors, it offered a chance to see that sustainable development is not only about addressing today's challenges, but also about investing in people, strengthening communities and creating opportunities that last.

As another successful Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show came to a close, Caritas Czech Republic left inspired by the many conversations, connections and partnerships formed throughout the week. The organisation remains committed to working alongside communities, government institutions, the private sector and development partners to create practical solutions that improve lives and contribute to a more resilient, inclusive and prosperous Zambia.
